Mrs. Mary Esther Harrell age 86, of Starke formerly of Jacksonville passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 under the care of Haven Hospice at Roberts care Center in Palatka. Mrs. Harrell was born on October 16, 1926 in Raiford to the late Marion L. Crews, Sr. and Martha (Wilkinson) Crews. Prior to retirement she was manager of operator services for AT&T, working in Washington DC, Miami and Jacksonville. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Starke where she taught Sunday school and was director of WMU. She also enjoyed playing her piano and organ. Preceding her in death was her husband William Lee Harrell, Sr., her son William Lee Harrell, Jr., sister: Delyne Pearson, brothers: M.L. Crews, Jr. and Herbert Crews. Survivors are: sisters: Sarah C. Albert (the late Charlie) of Jacksonville; Grace C. Buckley (the late Gary) of Keystone Heights; brother: Francis Frank Crews (Winnie) of Old Town; niece and caregiver: Martha Boyette (Stan) of Starke; numerous other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN STARKE on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Ben Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery.
