Mary Oveda Fraser Hunt

Mrs. Mary Oveda Fraser Hunt, age 90, of Starke went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2016 after a short illness. She was born in Mayday, GA on July 9, 1925 to the late Wallace W. and Sallie (Hodges) Fraser, the fourth of nine children. She attended elementary school in St. George, GA and graduated from high school in Doerun, GA. Mary spent her earlier years following her husband during his naval career. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1975 they moved to Starke where she entered Santa Fe Community College and obtained her nursing degree. She was employed at AGH and UF Shands until her retirement in 1996. First and foremost in life were her church and her family. She loved to cook and bake cakes, fishing, yard and thrift shop sales, and trips to the NC Mountains and especially country music. She enjoyed the monthly dinners at the American Legion Post 56 in Starke and fellowship with the Veterans and their wives. She also enjoyed baking a "Sheriffs Cake" for Sheriff Milner and his staff at get togethers during her husbands employment with the sheriff. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by five brothers, Warren, Wallace, Wendell, DeLacy and Lavaughn "Von" Fraser and one sister, Evelyn Chesser. Mrs. Hunt is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Hunt USN RET and RET Deputy Sheriff with BCSO of Starke; two daughters, Sallijoye Bradley of Dickson, TN and Pennirae Frisbee of Austin, TX; two sisters, Joy Edmonds of Albany, GA and Sadie King of Gainesville. Also left behind are six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Rock Primitive Baptist Church, CR 231,between Graham & Brooker, with Elder Jim Sandlin and Elder Tommie Stanaland officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m.at the church. Interment will follow at Rock Cemetery.
