Mary L. Mccormick-Jacobs

Mrs. Mary L. McCormick-Jacobs, age 93, of Keystone Heights passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Palm Garden of Gainesville. She was born in Hawthorne on May 30, 1924 to the late Henry and Jewell (Putnel) Paulling. Mrs. Jacobs had been a lifelong resident of the Hawthorne and Keystone Heights area graduating from Hawthorne High School with the class of 1942. While being a homemaker, she would also help her husband keep the books in the restaurant they owned. Her membership of over 40 years had been with First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights where she was active with weekly visitations and would also volunteer in the church office. Mrs. Jacobs enjoyed traveling to the mountains, needle point work, and loved playing cards with her friends, but was known for the great cook she was for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry "Mac" McCormick; a son, Eddie St. John and her sister, Earnestine Miller. Survivors are her four children, Susan Voliva (Doug) of Wears Valley, Tennessee, John McCormick (Kellye) and David McCormick (Kelly) all of Keystone Heights, and Jimmy McCormick of Gainesville, along with one sister, Sara McGuire of Gainesville. She was also "Grandma" and "Grandma Mac" to seven grandchildren; Samantha, John, Robert, Conner, Megan, Caroline, Emma, and Antonia; one great daughter and two great-great grandchildren. The viewing will be held prior to graveside services beginning at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 with Pastor Clay Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorne Cemetery on SR 20 in Hawthorne.
