Mary Louise Shortz was born on December 7, 1929 to Schell D. and Lillie H. Carver of Jacksonville, FL and passed away at Community Hospice McGraw Center on July 6, 2021. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Allen L. Shortz. She graduated from private school at The Monteverde School in Monteverde, FL and went on to further her education at Stetson University.She is survived by her son, Dave (Debbie) Shortz and her daughter, Linda (Bill) Gibson all of Jacksonville, FL, Four grandchildren; Trevor Gibson of St. Augustine, FL, Lisa (Brian) Miller of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Dana (Rick) Mills and Dawn (Brian) Errickson all of Flemming Island, FL, Eight great grandchildren; Bella Gibson of Pompano Beach, FL, Leo Gibson and Myca Gibson both of St. Augustine, FL, Fin Miller and Liam Miller of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Bryson Mills, Ansley Mills, and Avaleigh Errickson all of Flemming Island, FL.Mary volunteered at St. Vincents Medical Center Auxiliary for over 32 years, received an award for 12,000 hours and was past President from 1996-1997. She was awarded a Lifetime Membership to the St. Vincents Medical Center Auxiliary in 1997.A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11AM at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens at 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073, with Father Charles Padathuruthy officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to Community Hospice and Palliative Care (communityhospice.com) or to the DONNA Foundation for Breast Cancer (thedonnafoundation.org).
