Mary Ethel Smith

Mrs. Mary Ethel Smith age 76, of Keystone Heights passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She was born October 4, 1941 in Ewing, Virginia to Richard and Mossie (Langford) Smith. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Smith had been the restaurant manager for many years at the Citrus Tower in Clermont where she had been a longtime resident until just a few short months ago. She was of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her cows. Mrs. Smith also liked birds, especially cardinals, but her most enjoyable time was spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by one brother. Survivors are her loving husband of 59 years Kenneth "Ken" Smith Sr. of Keystone Heights and their four children Regina Graffham (Steve) of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Renea Marcano (Nelson) of Keystone Heights, Ken Smith, Jr. (Diane) of Groveland and Steve Smith (Elisabeth Brana) of Hawthorne. Also left behind are two brothers and one sister. She was also known as "Memaw" to six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Keystone Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
