Mrs. Mary Poole Torrent, age 94, of Starke formerly of St. Augustine passed away at her home Saturday, February 5, 2022. She was born October 18, 1927, in Montgomery, Alabama. Prior to retirement she was a secretary at the General Motors home office. Mrs. Torrent was a longtime and faithful member of Anastasia Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir; she also loved her Sunday school class which was known for volunteering in community charity programs. She was preceded in death by her mother Jewel (Ray) Poole; husband of 73 years Donald Jackson Torrent and a sister Ruth Carnley. Mrs. Torrent is survived by her daughter Donna (Gary W.) Teate of Starke; grandchildren Christian Kornegay, and Michelle (Robert) Walker; great-grandchildren, Zachary Kornegay, Taylor Kornegay, Sophie Kornegay, Benjamin Kornegay, Amber Walker and Austin Walker. Also left behind is her niece Linda Carter and nephew Michael Carnley. Graveside services for Mrs. Torrent will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, with Pastor Walter West and Pastor Ron Moore officiating.
