Mary Johnson Wasdin

Mrs. Mary Johnson Wasdin, age 87 of Middleburg passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Riverside Community Hospice in Jacksonville. She was born on November 14, 1938, in Macclenny, Mrs. Wasdin dedicated many years as a teacher in the Clay County School system, sharing her passion for learning with countless students. She also served as a college professor, inspiring a new generation of educators. She was a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Middleburg, where she found a sense of community and friendship. Her love for spending time with family was truly special.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Wasdin.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Matt Wasdin (Catherine) of Mt. Vernon, Georgia and Robert Wasdin of Middleburg. She was lovingly called “Grandma” by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
