Matthew
Kucera
Dec 3, 1958 — Mar 25, 2026
The family of Matthew Kucera (67) is heartbroken to share that he passed away after a sudden, brief illness on March 25, 2026.
Matt and his twin brother, Daniel, were born on December 3, 1958 in Ann Arbor Michigan to Jane Hickman Kucera and Frank Edward Kucera. The young Kucera family now were six, Matt and Dan making five and six to their two elder sisters, Kathryn and Carolyn. In 1960 the family moved from Michigan to Florida, and settled in Delray Beach. Soon after, the family grew to include two more children, Jan and Julia. The Kucera family, now numbering eight, built a vibrant life in Delray Beach and their presence was felt throughout the community. At their home church, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, the twins became regular and oft-requested altar boys.
Matt and his siblings were joined by their many friends in pursuing the sporting activities that he would participate in throughout his life. Those early days spent golfing, playing tennis, sailing, and boating became the foundation for his lifelong interest in those sports.
Upon graduation from Florida State University, Matt moved to Brevard County. Here his two life long commitments began. He started a career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch that spanned 44 years and he married his wife, Sue Ann, a marriage that saw its 38th year in March.
Together, Matt and Sue Ann raised three wonderful and devoted children along with two loyal, but crazy dogs.
As a young father, Matt began his tradition of buying lottery tickets, developing elaborate pools with friends, and planning, with generosity, the sharing of his future winnings. His sense of fun was evident in the pleasure he found in the schemes, pools, and splits he concocted with his friends.
Later in life, his love of the outdoors led him to the beauty of Boone, North Carolina, where he spent time exploring new golf courses, playing tennis, gardening, and wandering along mountain trails on his dirt bike. Matt found not only the summer weather to be enjoyable, but he discovered the people to be friendly and welcoming.
Matt had a meaningful life; it was rich with his love for his family. He was devoted to them, and this commitment guided his life. Matt further enriched his life through the time he shared with friends, he developed deep relationships through his career, and he served his community through various organizations
Matt is predeceased in death by his twin brother, Dan, and his parents, Jane Hickman Kucera and Frank Edward Kucera. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann and his children, Thomas Kucera, Grace Kucera Ciamaricone (Austin), Lydia Kucera; and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Vivian.
Matthew has predeceased his sisters, Kathryn Kenny of Baltimore, Maryland; Carolyn Young of Boynton Beach, Florida; Jan Kucera of Boynton Beach, Florida; and Julia Collier (Charles) of Fairfax, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 50 West Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne, Florida. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Suntree Country Club.
