Mattie Mae Thigpen

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Mae Thigpen, 94, widow of Conrad McLaurin Thigpen, will be held at 2:00P.M. Friday, December 16, 2016 from the graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Ken Gemeinhart officiating. Born April 26, 1922 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Mattie and Jessie Marshall, Mrs. Thigpen died Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1940; worked as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell from 1940 until 1957; and was a longtime member of Englewood Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Bryant Lee (Jill) Thigpen and a granddaughter, Jillian L. Thigpen, both of Saint Johns, Florida. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of N. E.
