Max Jordan Ennis, age 32, the beloved first son of M.L. and Diane Ennis died Thursday August 26, 2021. He was born in Jacksonville on Dec. 6, 1988 and was raised in Bradford County. Max was a very active child since day one and marched to the beat of his own drum. He was extremely smart, genuine, determined, dependable, motivated, an over-doer and was proud to help others. There was not one lazy bone in his body. He was well liked, had a caring heart and a twinkle in his eye. Max was just Max. He was a multi-sport athlete during his middle and high school years where he especially enjoyed his four years of varsity wrestling then graduated from BHS with high honors in 2007. Max joined the Navy right after graduation and served for six years. He traveled the world for his country as a Gunner's Mate on the frigate USS Bradley. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW. After his time in the service, he started a carpentry business from scratch that he built into a successful venture. Max was also a dedicated full-time student in his junior year of a Construction Management degree at the LSU College of Engineering. He already had plans to walk the stage in Baton Rouge. He jokingly said 'Go Tigers' once upon enrollment even though he was a devoted Florida Gator. Max was always a willing participator. If he was invited, you could count on him to be there with his son Jacob in tow. Max went beyond being a father, he was a great dad and gave it his all. He loved his family very much and his family loved him. Max was preceded in death by his father M.L. Ennis, grandparents Joe and Sylvia Kowitz and the family dog Sally. He leaves behind his much-loved son Jacob Ennis, devastated mother Diane Ennis, heartbroken sister Celia (D.J.) Hinds, grieving brother Sam (Haylee) Ennis, his sorrowful sister Sharon Barker, and his moms long time unyielding main squeeze Artis Rix who was like a father to Max. Max also leaves in sadness his little nieces and nephews Addy, Gabby and Brantlee Hinds, and Ace, Andy and Allie Ennis. They will miss the love and fun Uncle Max gave them as their young lives will forever be enriched because of him. His entire extra-large family and circle of friends will miss his humor, generosity, willingness and affection. To quote some of Max's friends "Until Valhalla brother." The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 1, 2021, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Funeral service for Max will begin at 2:00 p.m. with interment following at Antioch Cemetery in LaCrosse (Alachua County) to be buried next to his father. In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial gift to Maxs 11 year old son Jacob. Arrangements are under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 620 East Nona Street, Starke, FL 32091.
