A funeral service for Melba Weeks Aldrich of Jax, FL will be held in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South Jacksonville, FL 32216 at 1PM on Friday, August 30, 2019. The family will receive friends at the funeral home thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. The burial will be private at Greenlawn Cemetery. Melba Weeks Aldrich died at home on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Melba was born on November 6, 1922 in Lake City, Florida to Basil and James Ashton Weeks. She was the sixth of eleven children. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, sisters, her husband, Mitchell Benjamin, of 35 years, her son, Paul, and an infant daughter. She was a homemaker and loving mother and the best granny ever to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by five children; James (Nancy) Aldrich, John (Pam) Aldrich, Mary (Robert) Douglass, Betty Roberts, Shirley Aldrich; 9 grandchildren; Mark (Karla) Aldrich, Julie (Tom) Hensley, Craig (Vickie) Aldrich, Amy Aldrich Brown, Robert Aldrich, Sharon (Mike) Ramsey, Brian Douglass, Kelly (Drew) Amery, Scott (Wanda) Douglass; 14 Great-Grandchildren; Mitchell, Morgan, Andrew, Ethan, Noah, Caden, Kenley, Grayson, Beau, Isabella, Abigail, Ann, Colin, and Emma..VisitationGeorge H.
