Melvin Earl Clark Sr.

Melvin "Mel" Earl Clark, Sr., 87, passed away at Brookdale Senior Living Center Southpoint on Friday, July 16,2021 following a lengthy illness.He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Emily Florence "Flo" Clark; a son, Melvin Jr. (Carol) of Newberry and a daughter, Sandra (Bruce) Stonestreet of Jacksonville and two grandsons, Eric (Roxanne) of Knoxville, TN and Nathan of Gainesville, FL, along with numerous step-grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Diane Coburn of Sevierville, TN, along with numerous nieces and nephews.Melvin was born and raised in Greenville, NC, graduated from Belvoir High School and attended LaSalle University. He lived in Belvoir Community, NC until he was drafted and served eight years in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the Army, he lived in Norfolk, VA for 19 years, working as an Accountant in the mobile home business. He transferred to Jacksonville in 1973 and continued his work as Comptroller at Mustang Mobile Homes, other mobile home businesses and Property Services Real Estate for a total of 44 years. He and his wife, Emily, traveled the world, visiting over 100 countries, all seven continents, all states and took many cruises. Melvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South where friends may call on Wednesday, July 21st. Graveside services will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Thursday, July 22nd at 1:00p.m., with Rev.
