Obituary

It is with heartfelt remembrance and celebration of life that we announce the passing of Mickey E. Atkinson, aged 84, who left this world on March 20, 2026. Mickey was born on January 21, 1942, in Albany, Minnesota, and spent his later years in the warm embrace of Fort White, Florida.

Mickey dedicated much of his life to the construction industry as a General Foreman with Egan McKay Electrical Contractors, where he was known for his strong work ethic and his unwavering commitment to excellence. His friends and colleagues will remember him not only for his skill on the job but also for his capacity to lead and inspire those around him.

Mickey was such a generous person, always more than willing to give the shirt off his back. There was a property that Mickey would pass regularly, and he began to notice that it was now looking unkept as the grass was overgrown. He stopped in, and it turned out that the woman who lived there had lost her husband and her lawnmower broke. Mickey hauled his own lawnmower over to her place and took care of her yard; then also took her lawnmower back with him and got it fixed, bringing it back to her as well. He never asked for a dime. This is who Mickey was.

Above all, Mickey cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Atkinson, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. He leaves behind his son, Michael Atkinson (Joy), and daughter, Denise McQueen, along with three adored granddaughters: Noel, Emma, and Haley Atkinson. Mickey' legacy of love, warmth, and guidance will continue to shine through them.

Mickey's life was filled with moments of joy, laughter, and adventure. He had a passion for sharing stories, spending time outdoors, and creating beautiful memories with his family. Each day was an opportunity for him to spread kindness and laughter, and his joyful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

A celebration of Mickey's life will be held as friends and family come together to honor him and share in their cherished memories.

As we remember Mickey E. Atkinson, let us celebrate a life devoted to family, work, and the unwavering spirit of a man who brought joy to those around him. His memory will forever be a blessing
