Michael "Mike" David Crapse

Mr. Michael "Mike" David Crapse, Jr. age 57 of Keystone Heights, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 following an extended illness. He was born on February 6, 1960 in Jacksonville, FL to Michael and Ramona (Bennett) Crapse. He lived in Jacksonville until his family moved to Lawtey in 1974. After living in Lawtey for many years he moved to Keystone Heights. He married Ona Denise Hardee on February 10, 1978. They had two sons Michael and Daniel. Mike joined the Army and then worked at Gillmans Saw Mill after being discharged. He later joined the National Guard while still at Gillmans until he went into AGR and was stationed at Camp Blanding. He retired from the Army in 2012 after 32 years of service with the rank of Sergeant First Class E7. He was called to preach and pastored Faith Baptist Church of Starke faithfully for ten years until 2016 when his health declined. Mike loved the Lord, his family, and being in church more than anything.Mike was preceded in death by his father Michael David Crapse, Sr., brother, Phillip Crapse, and sister, Patricia Wheeler. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ona Denise Crapse of Keystone Heights, mother, Ramona Crapse of Lawtey, brothers, Bruce (Kyemae) Crapse and Joe (Miriam) Crapse both of Jacksonville and Steven Crapse of Keystone Heights, sisters, Bea (Jimmy) Ceballos of Lawtey and Mary Hill of Jacksonville. He is also survived by his sons, Michael David (Renea) Crapse, III of Hampton and Daniel (Garielle) Crapse of Lawtey, as well as his five grandchildren, Olivia, Gabriel, Azalea, Gideon and Anastasia. He was greatly loved by all his family including many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Smyrna Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Starling officiating. Interment will follow in Highland First Baptist Church Cemetery.
