Michael Wayne Newsome

Mr. Michael Wayne Newsome age 68 of Starke, passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Gainesville on January 7, 2019. Michael was born on February 13, 1950 to the late Ernie and Bertha "Loper" Newsome. He is a life-long resident of Bradford County and a graduate of Bradford County High School. Following high school he enrolled in the United States Navy where he served for two years. Michael was a licensed electrician working for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for many years. Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Napier; sister, Gloria Cox; and his parents. Survivors include his wife Lynne Newsome of Starke; daughter, Christine (Terry) Whitehead of Lake Butler; grandchildren, Kaylie Whitehead, Maci Whitehead and Zander Napier; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial services, with military honors, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Bayless Highway Baptist Church. Services will be officiated by Rev. Dale Wiseman.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Michael Newsomes honor to the American Diabetes Association: 2451 Crystal Drive Suite 900 Arlington, VA 22202.
