SCHMANDT: Michael Thomas Schmandt Sr., 78, who passed away on February 20, 2025, Mr. Schmandt was born in Detroit, Michigan and was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a Forklift Operator by trade and he was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Darlene Sanchez and Antoinette Mascia; Survivors include his son, Michael Thomas Schmandt Jr,; Daughter, Catherine Marie Schmandt; 2 sisters, Rita Parrott, Anna Turner; 1 brother, John Schmandt. Graveside services will be held Thursday March 20, 2025 at 11AM from the graveside in Jacksonville National Cemetery with Dr. Terry N. Collins officiating. Military Honors will be held from the graveside by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Michael's memory to the American Red Cross.
