Michael "Mike" Thomas Strayhorn, Sr., age 77, of Starke, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was born on April 20, 1945, to the late William Leroy Strayhorn and Bettie Sue (Green) Strayhorn. He graduated from Northern High School in Durham, NC. He retired from Dixie Contract Carpet in 2012 and was married to his wife, Barbara Strayhorn, for 23 years.Mike was a man that loved to laugh and never met a stranger. He was an avid Nascar fan and was a dedicated fan of the Florida Gators. He could often be found watching a Florida Gators basketball game with his loving daughter, Gwen, and many of his grandchildren. He lived for all his grandchildren and loved watching them grow. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.He will be lovingly remembered by wife; Barbara Strayhorn of Starke, Fl; children, Gwen (Dave) Werner of Gainesville, Fl, Jimmy (Amy) Long of Keystone Heights, Fl, Amie (Robert) Cox of Windermere, Fl., Michael Thomas Strayhorn, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Jade Gaelyn-Ledai of Tampa, Fl.; grandchildren, Makayla Werner, Gracie Werner, Colton Werner, James (Tiffany) Long, Aaron Long, Jason Rehberg, and Brice Cox; great granddaughter, Kinsley Long. A reception will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the DeWitt C.
