Michael R. Yarbrough

Michael R. Yarbrough, 61, passed away on March 9, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Madisonville, Kentucky on July 29, 1954 to Walter Thomas Yarbrough & Myrtle (Parkest) Yarbrough. A longtime Jacksonville resident, Mr. Yarbrough was employed at Landstar Transportation Logistics where he worked for over 23 years in Information Systems as a Web Development Manager. Mr. Yarbrough was also a 20 year, retired veteran of the United States Air Force. He received numerous decorations for his service in avionics and logistics, including his service in both Operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm. A faithful warrior of God, as well, Mr. Yarbrough was a longtime member of Southpoint Baptist Church in Jacksonville where he served the church as Chairman of Deacons, adult Sunday School teacher and choir member. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and studying God's word.Michael Yarbrough is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Linda L. (Crawford) Yarbrough; a son, Bradley Thomas Yarbrough (wife, Amanda); daughters, Brina Arine Ashe (husband, Daniel) & Mary Rebekah Carr (husband, Jeff); a sister, Patricia Furgeson (husband, George); half-brothers, Darren,Troy & Tom Yarbrough; 8 grandchildren, Bryan, Zachary, Sarah, Katie, Mardie, Mason, Malaysia & Allyson as well as another grandchild on the way and many extended family members, church family and friends. Mr. Yarbrough was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 brothers, Jerry Yarbrough & Terry Furgeson.The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 15, 2016 in George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S., Jacksonville, FL 32216. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at Southpoint Baptist Church, 3335 Tiger Hole Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32216, with Dr. Terry N. Collins officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, Madisonville, Kentucky, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 19, 2016.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Yarbroughs name to The Gideons International, gideons.org/ P.O.
