Mrs. Mildred Irene Byers age 86, of Starke passed away April 30, 2013 at Shands UF in Gainesville. She was born on October 7, 1926 to the late Willis R. and Vera (Starkay) Shutt in Newfane, New York where she was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a Certified Nurses Assistant before moving in 1972 to Starke. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Byers was a Sectary for North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center in Gainesville for 16 years. She was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church and enjoyed cake decorating. Mrs. Byers was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Albert Byers and her son Roger Byers. Survivors are her children; Ron Byers, Harold Byers his wife Bonnie, Susan Byers, and James Byers all of Starke, Timothy Byers of Greenville, NC, and a daughter in law, Ruthann of Madisonville, KY. Also left behind are four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Byers will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services beginning. The burial will follow at the Crosby Lake Cemetery.
