Milo von Louda, 77, of Newberry, Florida, passed away on Monday, September11, 2023.Milo was born in Kutna Hora, near Prague, in Czechoslovakia on November 14,1945, to Oldrich and Jaroslava (Kunaskova) von Louda. Milo was married toArcher (Brown) von Louda.Milo escaped from Communist Czechoslovakia at the age of 18, leaving his familyfor a life of freedom. After escaping, he lived in Vienna, Austria for 6 years. In1971, he left Vienna for Lech, a ski town in the Austrian Alps, where he met hiswife, Archer, who was living and working there. Only speaking German to eachother, they decided that Milo would come to the United States where Archertaught Milo English. They moved to Gunnison, Colorado where they married in1972 and he proudly became a U.S. citizen.While living in Colorado, Milo andArcher built, owned, and operated two businesses: a clothing boutique and aEuropean Restaurant, in Mt Crested Butte. The Alpenhof, designed by Milo as anAustrian restaurant was a favorite of his many accomplishments.Both of their daughters, Morgan (1974) and Dana (1978) were born in Gunnison.They moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1987 to be with family. In Gainesville, Milomanaged the West End Golf Course restaurant and had his own interiordesign/home improvement business.Milo is survived by his wife Archer, daughter Morgan and her husband ChrisReimer, daughter Dana and her husband Jake Gordon, and five grandchildren:Christian (23); Cayden (19); Carissa (16); Alex (13); and Samantha (10).
