Mr. Mitchell Brown age 82 of Lawtey passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Mr. Brown was born on June 9, 1927 in Lawtey to the late John and Purvis Prevatt Brown and was a lifelong area resident. Mitchell was a member of Northside Baptist Church, was retired Insurance Agent for Security Life Insurance Company, and was Police Chief in Lawtey during the early 1950s. He was preceded in death by sons Eddy Dyal and Larry C. Brown. Survivors are his wife of 43 years Katherine Maye Parrish Brown of Lawtey; children: John M. Brown of Lawtey; Debbie Browning of Starke; sisters: Rebecca Wise; June Brown; Janet Norman all of Lawtey; grandchildren: Kelly Brown of Hampton; Charlie Brown; Tracy Jones; Stephen Browning all of Starke; Michelle Choi of Fleming Island; Travis Browning of Charlotte, NC; Minnie Broughton of Lake Butler; eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at NORTHSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 noon with funeral services immediately following. Reverend Larry Finley and Reverend J.L. Hodnett will officiate.
