Mr. David E. Canova, age 85 of Starke and a former resident of over 50 years at Kingsley Lake, passed away at HCA Hospital in Gainesville, Monday, November 3, 2025. He was born on September 14, 1940, in Gainesville, to the late Levy and Mona (Alderman) Canova. David lived a full and vibrant life, cherished by all who knew him.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, David served his country with honor. He spent his professional life as a Senior Systems Analyst for the Florida Farm Bureau in the insurance industry, where he was known for his dedication and expertise.

David was a longtime active member of the Kingsley Lake Baptist Church where his faith played a central role in his life. He enjoyed the great outdoors—whether it was tending to his yard, hunting, or fishing; he was a passionate Florida Gators fan and was a coin collector as well. He also loved to sing in church choirs.

David was a devoted family man, celebrating 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dee (Walters) Canova, and together they raised two sons, Brian (Erica Pfenniger) and Jason (Peijie) Canova, who have continued his legacy. As a grandfather to five grandchildren, David took immense joy in his role as "Pop," creating countless memories filled with laughter and love. David also had a soft spot for his fur babies, Benjii and Anndee.

The family will be having a private graveside service at Crosby Lake Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Rodriguez officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kingsley Lake Baptist Church Building Fund, 6289 Mary Dot Lake, Starke, FL 32091
