Mr. Richard “Dick” Arnold Miller, age 80 of Melrose passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at his son’s home in Jacksonville. He was born on July 26, 1945, in Gainesville, to Ottis Dwight and Addie May (Wallace) Miller.
Mr. Miller lived a life dedicated to service, particularly during his time as a Military Police officer in the government. Following his 26-year career with the United States Air Force, he became a private investigator, private security consultant and Regional Vice President for Professional Security Bureau.
He was a man who enjoyed everything from boating and motorcycle riding to golfing and travel. The love he expressed with family, friends, and beloved family pets brought joy to his days.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years Rosalinda “Linda” (Larayos) and his precious granddaughter Keire Lyn Miller both in 2017, as well as his siblings Jimmy Miller, Travis Miller, Myra Gardner, Patricia Carter, and Wayne Miller.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Richard Lee Miller of Jacksonville, Robert Eugene Miller of Melrose, and Rosemarie Miller of Jacksonville. Also left behind are siblings Janice Bowers of Julington Creek and Larry Miller of Middleburg.
Mr. Miller was lovingly called “Pop-Pop” by all six of his grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Miller will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Epps officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m.
