Russell Edward Pierce, 78, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 15, 1946, in Lima, Ohio, Russell lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and a deep love for both his family and the outdoors.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Russell went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1996. He worked for four decades as an electrical engineer at the University of Florida, where his hard work and steady presence earned the respect of colleagues and students alike.

Russell is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Gloria Jean "Jeannie" Bass Pierce; his beloved son, Jeremy Edward Pierce; and his cherished grandchildren, Shiloh Edward Pierce and Olivia Jordan Pierce. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, Ray and Jimmy Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Edward Pierce and Mary Elizabeth (Ray) Pierce.

A true outdoorsman, Russell found peace and joy in nature. He loved to spend time hunting and fishing—activities that connected him to the world around him and offered him many moments of quiet reflection.

He will be remembered for his loyalty, humility, and the quiet wisdom he brought to every part of his life. His legacy lives on in the family who loved him deeply and in the lives he touched through his work and service.

A visitation for Mr. Pierce will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, between 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Russell's memory to a veterans' organization of your choice.
