Mr. Thomas A. Winter

Mr. Thomas "Tom" Winter, 77 of Fleming Island, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016. Tom was born December 14, 1938 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the son of the late Clarence and Carmen (Becker) Winter. He served in the United States Army, Army Security Agency where he was stationed in Germany. Tom was a PGA Golf Professional in the Chicago area, where he formerly resided before moving to Fleming Island 18 years ago. Tom loved golf and made a "hole in one" three times in his life. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his wife, and grandchildren. He was a member of the Fleming Island United Methodist Church. He also was formerly employed by Edwin Watts. His brother, William Winter preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Darlene (Kuitko) Winter of Fleming Island, daughters, Kim Waltz (Jon) of Fleming Island and Kris Gillaspy (Ken) of West Union, IL, brother, Robert Winter (Maria) of Manitowish Waters, WI, grandchildren, Grace, Alex, Josiah, Joy, Andrew, Gideon, and Mercy, as well as his nephews Matthew and Christian . Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fleming Island United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Gillaspy officiating. The family will hold a viewing from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service.
