Obituary

Marlene Rowe Coleman was born July 31, 1943, in Lawtey, FL and celebrated her 82nd birthday with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2025.

Marlene was proceeded in death by her parents Percy and Jewell Rowe, her sister Freda Hardenbrook, and her brothers Charles, Cecil, Trubie and Corky Rowe all of Starke, FL.

Marlene was a graduate of Bradford County High School and in 1961 began her career as a Pastor's Wife and a home maker. In this job path she was an educator, preparing lesson plans and transposing written words to brail, teaching children in Sunday School and church programs about how much Jesus loved them, she was a financial advisor, stretching a Pastor's salary to insure all her family's needs were met, she was an artist, creating crafts and new recipes which helped in her job as an event planner, organizing fund raisers such as bake sales and bazaars to raise money for Women's and Children's ministries, but the position she most prized was being a devoted Wife, Mother, and Mema. Marlene is survived by the Love of her life for 64 years Rev. Alton Coleman, sister Rita Crawford (Mel), daughter Christi Payne (Leon), her Son Alex Coleman (Misty), 3 grandchildren, Evan Coleman, Lauren Coleman and Makayla Rodriguez (Steven), 2 great-grandchildren Everliegh and Tyler Rodriguez as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and a church family that will miss her sweet smile and warm hugs, but will continue to reap the blessings of her fervent prayers for all. Her Motto was live with JOY: Jesus first, Others second and Yourself last. Marlene's capacity for love is best described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, love never fails.
