Mrs Thelma Marie Folen

Mrs. Thelma Marie Folen age 85, of Orange Park, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Governor's Creek Health & Rehabilitation. Thelma was born on March 18, 1931, in Washington D.C., to the late John and Francis (Daurity) Shugard and was a longtime area resident. She was of the Catholic Faith, a homemaker and an artist. Thelma enjoyed making her own clothes, sketching, drawing and painting. She loved to dance and spent many years as an Arthur Murray's dance instructor. Preceding her in death was her husband, Victor Alexander Folen Sr., and siblings: Owen Shugard, William Shugard, Edith Shugard and Leo Shugard. Survivors are her children, Victor Alexander "Alex" Folen, II of Green Cove Springs, Renee Price of Jacksonville, and Regina Folen-DeFranco, married to Robert DeFranco of Crescent City, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Katarina Regina, Victoria Alexandra, James, Mia Celeste, Genevieve Bellarose, and Justice Grant, and one great-grandson, Grayson Rene. The family will receive friends at the HELM-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM with funeral services beginning at 12:30. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Magnolia Cemetery, 1040 Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park.
