Mrs. Myrtice Barrett Teate age 93, of Starke passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. She was born in Cedar Town, Georgia on August 28, 1919 to the late Winston E. and Annie E. (Peek) Barrett. Prior to Mrs. Teate moving to Starke 16 years ago from Young Harris, Georgia, she was a member of the hospital ladies auxiliary in Hiwassee, Georgia. She was also a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Starke; she loved gardening, reading, and cooking. In 1996, her husband Jacob William Teate, Jr. had preceded her in death. Survivors are her daughter; Patti Priest and her husband Don of Lake Asbury, one son; Gary Teate and his wife Donna of Starke, one sister; Mary Ann Parker of Newnan, Georgia, grandchildren; Christa Crawford and her husband Jeremy, Beth Anderson and her husband Kyle all of Starke, Lorrie Teate, and Shelley Moody and her husband Phil all of Jacksonville, and Casey Teate of St. Augustine. Mrs. Teate also leaves behind four step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her special caregiver; Jeannie Culverson. Funeral services for Mrs. Teate will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Starke with Reverend Jeremy Crawford officiating. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. and the burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park.
