Mrs. Myrtle Alma Padgett 92 of Melrose passed away at her home Thursday, August 18, 2022, with her family at her side. She was born August 11, 1930, in Verdie, Florida to William and Eleanor (Rowell) Pringle. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Padgett was a self-employed hairdresser for 14 plus years in Jacksonville. She was a former member of Woodstock Baptist Church in Jacksonville for 25 years and the former W.M.U. Director with the New River Baptist Association. In 1986 she moved to Keystone Heights where she became an active member of the First Baptist church; she was a choir member, daycare director from 1987 to 1995 and for the past 10 years she served as the Clothes Closet Director. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Leon J. Padgett and their son Christopher L. Padgett. Mrs. Padgett is survived by two children Janet Padgett of Melrose and Curtis Padgett of Tallahassee. She was lovingly called "Mamaw" by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Viewing for Mrs. Padgett begins at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2022, in the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Findley officiating. Mrs. Padgett will be laid to rest 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2022, at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Haven Hospice 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL.
