Nancy McLarty Denton, 76, of Keystone Heights, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born in Memphis, TN, on March 30, 1948, to the late Walter and Flora (Morton) McLarty. She earned her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and her Master of Education from NOVA University. Mrs. Denton was the beloved Home Economics teacher at Bradford High School for 30 years where she shared her love of cooking and sewing with her students. She was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, quilting, and cooking for her family. She also looked forward to attending Camp Meeting at the Old Methodist Campground in Oxford, MS every summer where she took delight in singing gospel hymns and spending time with her family. But most of all, Nancy cherished being a Mom and Nana to her children and grandchildren whom she adored and loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; Mikel G. Denton. Survivors are her children, Estella D. Pendarvis (Dale) of Lawtey, Mikel Denton (Jennifer) of Fleming Island, grandchildren; Andrew, Eric, and Patrick Pendarvis all of Lawtey, siblings; Mary Zorzoli, of Olive Branch, MS, Jerry McLarty of Byhalia, MS, and Ann Carlson (Paul) of Collierville, TN. Funeral services for Mrs. Denton will be conducted at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Pastor Dale Wiseman officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior (1:00pm-2:00pm) to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME.
