Naomi Willine Powell

Mrs. Naomi "Willine" Powell, 93 of Penney Farms, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019. Mrs. Powell was born April 14, 1926 in Capitan, New Mexico to the late David S. and Willie Lee (Slover) Whiteley. A resident of the Penney Farms Retirement Community since 1991, she was employed as a registered nurse in the Mary Olin Clinic for about 10 years. She and her husband were Methodist missionaries in North India. During WW II she was a cadet nurse and later worked with leprosy patients in India. Survivors are her husband, the Rev. Lyle H. Powell, Jr. of Penney Farms, children: Mary Powell of Rock Springs, WY; Lyle D. Powell of Spokane, WA; Steven Powell of Houston, TX; and Kenneth Powell of Olympia, WA. Also sister Lillie "Maxine" Glenn of Colcord, OK and brother, Arthur Charles Whiteley of Catoosa, OK. In addition are eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
