Nellie Conner Lewis, 93, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Tri County Nursing Home in Fanning Springs, FL. Nellie was born on February 6, 1931, in Gilchrist County, FL to Bryant Alexander Leggett and Sarah Katie May Bonds. Nellie married Edward Conner on December 24, 1948, until his death 54 years later having two children. She married Jimmy Lewis in 2004 until his death in 2007. She was a housewife, worked in the fields and cleaned many houses for residents of the Bell area for many years. She cooked many good meals for family and friends, especially wild game with her homemade biscuits and could bake a mean chocolate cake.She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and siblings, Dorcy Leggett, Aaron Leggett, Glenn Leggett, B.A. Leggett, Maggie Trail, Carrie Vaughn and Hazel Crews and her son-in-law, Clinton Rogers.She is survived by her children, Estelle Rogers and Terry (Donna) Conner, granddaughters Lori (Jeff) Hayes and Tricia (Matt) Williams, a great-granddaughter, Ashley Hayes, great-grandsons, Eric (Nina) Wood and Nicholas Williams along with many nieces and nephews and the staff of Tri-County Nursing Home that became part of her family. A service will be held Thursday, August 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church located at 4200 NW CR 340 in Bell, FL.
