Nellie Jean Savery, age 79, passed away on Saturday January 1, 2022 at her home in Jacksonville. A Jacksonville native, Jean was born here on October 27, 1942 to Sadie Garner & JW Knight. A graduate of Landon High School, Jean went on to receive her bachelors degree in Education from UNF. Mrs. Savery was a teacher in the Duval County School system for 22 years until her retirement.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 7, 2022 at Hogan Baptist Church, 8045 Hogan Rd., with Rev. Peter Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.Mrs. Savery was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Everett Savery, Sr. in 2019, an infant daughter Melanie, and by her daughter, Tracie Martin in 2021. She is survived by her son, Gerald Everett Savery, Jr. (Michele); her 6 grandchildren Troy, Kyle, Jeanette, Allie (Nick), Sam great-grandchildren, Cody Harrison Savery, Kellum James Buchanan, Aiden Luke Buchanan; a son-in-law, Berry Martin and by many extended family members, as well as a host of dear friends at Hogan Baptist Church.Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
