HORNE - Newell A. Horne, age 95 of Loganville, GA, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Loganville, GA. Rev. Tommy Fountain will officiate. Mr. Horne was a United States Army Veteran who served during WWII and retired from the City of Miami Police Department after 36 years of service. Mr. Horne was the Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Miami, FL and was a Shriner. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Monroe, GA and loved fishing, wood working, and even years later, he still loved police work. Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his parents, Claude & Myrtle Horne, and his sister, Novella Mullins. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Dorris S. Horne; Daughters & Sons-in-law: Anita & Art Hall, Loganville, GA; Betty Fine, Huntsville, AL; Sandy & John Brown, Loganville, GA; Brother: Claude G. Horne, Riverside, CA; Grandchildren: DeAnna L. Cox (Michael), Kelly L. Burell (Heath), Robert A. Hall (Katie), Greg Fine (Sabrina), Michelle Stephens, Jeffrey Brown (Jennifer), Laura Brown; 11 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces & Nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Hope Baptist Cemetery with Dr. Larry Strickland officiating.
