Nina J. (Hersey) Freeman died on August 21st at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring Hospice from complications of Parkinson's disease. She was born in Jacksonville on September 5, 1931, the daughter of the late A. J. Hersey and her mother Videl. She is survived by her husband Billy, two sons; Kent and wife Donna and Dwight. A granddaughter Melanie Hamilton, a great grandson Kyler Freeman. A sister Marie Drake, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nina and Billy were married in March 1949 on his return from the island of Guam where he served in the U.S. Air Force. Billy rejoined the Air Force in June of 1957, together the raised their sons and lived the military life being stationed in Georgia, Minnesota, Iceland, Montana and Mississippi. Nina was a loving and caring mother and wife. She enjoyed working in crafts and made many beautiful things. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South Jacksonville, Florida 32216. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday August 24, 2015 between the hours of 6:30PM- 7:30PM.
