A funeral mass for Noreen Keating Campbell (86) of Jacksonville, FL will be held on March 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Road Jacksonville, FL 32256. Burial will take place after the funeral at 2:30 PM in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road Jacksonville, FL 32218 (Lane #2).Noreen passed away on February 22, 2019 and is survived by her adoring husband Dr. Wallace Gibson Campbell, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.; daughter Julia Catherine Manning of Jacksonville, FL; sons John Wallace Campbell of Atlanta, GA, William Paul Campbell of St. Marys, GA and Donald Patrick Campbell of Livingston, NJ; and eight grandchildren: Caroline Campbell, Annie Campbell, Bobby Campbell, Connor Campbell, Laila Campbell, Benjamin Campbell, Theresa Campbell, and Jack Manning. She was also survived by her brother, Otis, who passed on February 26, 2019. Noreen was born in Arlington, MA on September 25, 1932 to Catherine M. (Regan) and Paul L. Keating. She attended Saint Agnes School and Arlington High School and graduated from Radcliffe College of Harvard University, class of 1954, with a concentration in chemistry. She obtained her Masters degree in Education from Tufts University in 1957, while working as a technician at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Thereafter, she worked at Rockefeller Institute in New York City and later Emory University in Atlanta, GA.Noreen and Wallace were married on June 16, 1957 at the Church of St. Brigid in Lexington, MA. After New York City, Noreen and Wallace lived in San Antonio, TX while Wallace served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, before relocating to Atlanta, GA in 1964, where they raised their four children. Noreen was a devoted and supportive wife, a loving and involved mother and grandmother, a devout Catholic, and an active community volunteer throughout her life, including at hospitals, churches, and the local PTA. Noreen loved the opera, the symphony, reading, and being a mother. She was an intelligent, compassionate and caring person, who put the needs of others above her own. Her smile was radiant and always brought joy to those around her.
