Norma E. Thompson

Mrs. Norma E. Thompson 89 of Keystone Heights passed away Friday, February 26, 2021, in Gainesville. She was born October 8, 1931, in Macon, GA to John W. and Iva E. (Bailey) Blasingame. Norma grew up in Miami where she graduated from Miami Edison High School and Barry College where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She started her career working for the Miami Police Department as a dispatcher and retired as their Personnel Manager. She attended Trinity Baptist Church and was active with the Senior Center and L.A.M. Norma made friends wherever she went. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 wonderful years John Haywood Thompson, Sr. and her sister Margaret Zinkel. Norma is survived by her son John H. Thompson, Jr. and daughter Valerie Kimbel. She was lovingly called "Granny" by two grandsons Christian Thompson (Erin) and Michael Thompson (Amy) along with eight great grandchildren Naomi, Levi, Jedidiah, Rebekah, Anna, Gideon, Malachi, and Luke. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends that will miss her dearly. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2021, in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Rick Ergle and Mr. Justin Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Eliam Cemetery.
