Vilallonga, Olga G.Gainesville, FL - Olga G. Vilallonga, a longtime resident of Gainesville, FL passed peacefully on October8, 2023, at the age of 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco "Paco" Vilallonga, herhusband of 69 years. Olga was born in Havana, Cuba on August 14, 1929, the oldest child of the lateJos Ramn Gonzlez and Isolina Lpez.In 1961, Olga and her family left Cuba and moved to Spain, later relocating to Gainesville in 1967. In1976, she began her 27-year career with the IFAS Department at the University of Florida. She was aloyal and committed professional, who became not only a leader herself, but also thoughtfullyencouraged others to do the same.Olga is survived by her daughter Olga V. (Carlos M. del Sol), her granddaughters Adrianne (Philip J.Petersen), Melissa (David P. Bowman), great granddaughter, and niece. She was predeceased by herbrother Ubaldo Gonzlez.More important than the recognition she received and the accomplishments she achieved in herprofessional career, Olgas role in the family was paramount. She was the pillar, who, with her faith inGod, gratitude to this country, and fierce determination, instilled hope in her family for a bright future.Olga was the person who authentically stood by her principles, always staying true to herself and hervalues. Most importantly, she was the heart of the family, who everyone turned to for her vastknowledge, loving support, listening ear, and joyous embrace. She will be profoundly missed by allwho loved her.A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 10:00AM at Queen of Peace CatholicCommunity, 10900 SW 24th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North CentralFlorida, 2121 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
