Oscar Wayne Alvarez

Mr. Oscar Wayne Alvarez, age 81, of Melrose passed away at his home Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was born August 20, 1938, in Jacksonville to the late Clyde Raymond and Daisy (Creech) Alvarez and had served in the National Guard. Prior to his first retirement Mr. Alvarez was employed by J.E.A. as a lineman. He then continued working and retired a second time also as a lineman with the University of Florida. Mr. Alvarez was an avid Gator fan and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Music and attending the festivals; he also enjoyed going out on the lake fishing. Mr. Alvarez leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife of 55 wonderful years Linda (Taylor) Alvarez of Melrose and their two daughters Tammy Alvarez (Fred) of Ft. McCoy and Debra Alvarez (James) of Jacksonville. Also left behind are three siblings Kay Alvarez, Dottie Alvarez and Dan Alvarez all of Keystone Heights along with one grandson Cooper Wiedeman. A Celebration of Life for Mr. Alvarez will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Rodeheaver Boy's Ranch, 380 Boys Ranch Rd, Palatka, FL 32177.
