Oscar Richard Iverson, 90, passed away on Tuesday December 3, 2019 at the Community Hospice Center at St. Vincents Southside in Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday December 5, 2019 in George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. A graveside funeral, with Military Honors, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday December 6, 2019 in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.Oscar was born in Westville, New Jersey on August 29, 1929 to Martin & Gladys Iverson. He served proudly in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Missouri during the Korean War. Oscar was a retired telecommunications engineer. He worked for nearly 50 years in the field for AT&T, New York Telephone Company & others. Oscar has been a resident of Jacksonville for the last 3 years, having spent the previous 25 years with his wife Gloria in Summerville, New Jersey and before that the Albany, New York area where they were very dedicated members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Oscar will be remembered as a very kind and charitable man.Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Iverson; a son, Richard Iverson & his brother, Dan Iverson. He is survived by 2 daughters, Sandi Corrigan (husband, Dennis) & Chris Garro; a son, Bruce Iverson (wife, Hwasun); 10 grandchildren: Erik, Max, Nicole, Heather, Brittany, Missy, John, Michael, Kelsy and Andrew; 9 great grandchildren: Christian, Edwin, Sammy, Marlon, Giovanni, Selena, Jeison, Camryn a sister, Elaine Pfender and by many extended family members & friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Oscars name to the Veterans Services charity of your choice..Receiving FriendsGeorge H.
