Pamela Ellen Pam BlackPamela Ellen Black passed away in her home on March 19, 2010 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her bravery, concern for others, and quirky humor touched the staff and the fellow patients of North Florida Hematology and Oncology Associates, in Jacksonville.Pamela was predeceased by her parents, Ralph W. Black and Patricia G. Black of Green Cove Springs, Florida.She is survived by her sister Rebecca Black, Walter and Martha Black of Richmond, Virginia, Kathy Coffee of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and James Black of Mechanicsville, Virginia. She also leaves many Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins in the Jenkins Family, Arthur and Janet Rainer and their families, and many wonderful friends and co-workers (past and present).Pam was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1953. She grew up in Virginia, and lived for four years in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She worked at Shentel, in Edinburg, Virginia, for a number of years and moved to Green Cove Springs, Florida in 1978. She pursued a medical career, first as a Medical Assistant then returning to school to become an RN. She worked at St. Vincents Medical Center for fourteen years in the Open Heart Step-down Unit. She resided in Jacksonville, and Middleburg, returning to Green Cove Springs to care for her parents in the family home, where she lived with her sister Rebecca until her death in March 2010.Pam was a Bright Spirit, living her life with joy and verve, and there are many who will remember her with a smile. Pam will be remembered for her ready smile, irreverent wit, and her gentle and caring nature.
