Patricia Thomson

Patricia Ann Thomson born July 30th, 1957 passed away on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, after years of coping with multiple health issues. She was 69 years old. Patricia was a long time resident of Gainesville, Florida and was well known here for both her 28 year tenure as a Law Professor at the University of Florida College of Law and her tireless dedication promoting the Theatrical Arts in all the areas local community theaters.

Since 1980 Pat has produced and directed, acted, sang, danced and costumed in and for literally hundreds of plays and musicals at the Gainesville Community Playhouse, the High Springs Playhouse, the Acrosstown Repertory Theater, the Phillips Center, the Daytona Playhouse and the Naples Players, just to name a few. Her last play that she directed was a farcical comedy “Exit Laughing” at the High Springs Playhouse represented her dedicated yet light-hearted approach to theater and her love of the arts. The actors, singers and other performers that she worked with and mentored in her shows will remember her as someone who gave them the opportunity to have their time in the spotlight.

Patricia is survived by her sister Helen (with Mike), her brothers William and Michael, her nephew Richard Little (who she spent great effort trying to help his entire life), her nieces Jennifer (with her husband Billy) and Emily (with husband Matthew), her great nephew Andrew and her newly adopted nieces Persephone and Maricella. Funeral Services will be held at the Holy Faith Catholic Church on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11am. A reception well be held right after at the Church banquet room.
