A devoted believer whose faith and trust were in Jesus Christ, Paul Andrew Houston was called home to Heaven on April 21, 2026, in Daytona Beach, FL, at the age of 87.
Born on December 5, 1938, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Paul dedicated fifteen years of service as a Facilities Manager with the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, retiring September 30, 2001. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to serving his community. His professionalism was matched by a genuine compassion for others, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Above all, Paul cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Marcella Joan Houston, and their three loving daughters, Marjorie, Denise (Michaela), and Donna (Monica) Houston. He also leaves behind his cherished grandson, Bryan Houston (Jessica), and his beloved great-grandchildren Andrew, Lea, and Paul, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Iva Pearl Houston; his brothers Marvin Allan, John Calvin, Norman Ray; and his sisters Laura Lucille, Eunice Evelyn, Mattie Lee, Onnie Mae, Iva Irene, and Erma Jean.
In honor of Paul's life and contributions, a burial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on April 24, 2026, at 4200 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Paul's remarkable life and the enduring impact he made on all who knew him.
As we honor Paul Andrew Houston, we remember a man of unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a life well lived in service to others. His legacy will continue to shine through the generations he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace.
