Pauline "Grace" Murley

Pauline Grace Prevatt Murley, age 102, of Geneva, Florida passed awayWednesday November 13, 2019 at Parkview Rehabilitation Center (VitasHealthcare) in Winter Park. She was born on February 25, 1917 inBradford County to Emma Eugene (Strickland) Prevatt and John BevilPrevatt. Grace was a devout Methodist, a descendant of Floridapioneers, and an avid genealogy buff. When things were hard during theDepression, she lived with her aunt and uncle in Oviedo, Florida whereshe worked at an orange packing plant and graduated from Oviedo HighSchool. She then rejoined her parents in Jacksonville where she workedin a cigar factory before becoming a real "Rosie the Riveter" on Libertyships there during WW II. After the war she moved to California,married Octus Rook Murley, a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. MarineCorps, and returned to Florida, eventually settling in Geneva, where shelived for 57 years. Before retiring, she worked in the banking industryand as a real estate agent.Grace was preceded in death by her son, William Alfred Bailey, Jr.; herbrother Wilbert Harold Prevatt; and sisters Melba Louise Matheny andMazie Prevatt Beasley. She is survived by her brother Rev. Erle Prevatt(wife: JoAn), her son Mark Steven Murley (wife: Theresa), grandsonsJoshua and William, and beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.Funeral services were held on Tuesday November 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., atthe First United Methodist Church of Starke with Pastor Michael A. Mooreofficiating. Interment followed at Prevatt Cemetery. Arrangements weremade by Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Starke.
