Perry James Kemp

Mr. Perry James Kemp 93 of Lawtey passed away at his home Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was born July 23, 1927, in Bunnell to William and Mollie (Deese) Kemp and had been a lifelong resident of Bradford County. His first retirement followed his 21 years of service with the United States Air Force with his second retirement of 24 years with Florida State Prison. He was a member of First Christian Church in Starke, Amerian Legion Post #156, Lawtey Masons Post #189 and Lawtey York Rite. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a grandson Tony. Mr. Kemps survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 70 years Ella Louise (Prevatt) Kemp of Lawtey and their three sons Paul Kemp of Lawtey, Doyle Kemp (Celeste) of Tallahassee and Glenn Kemp of Raiford; a brother Floyd "Brown" Kemp of Lawtey and a sister Gladys Plant of New Hampshire. Also left behind are grandchildren Brenda Pressley, Paul Kemp Jr., Chuck Rowe, Tony Kemp, Terri Gilliam, Eric Kemp, Rebecca Kemp, Elizabeth "Beba" Purcell, and Erika Kemp along with great-grandchildren Tim Wilkerson, Cody Rowe, Etosia Milmont, Alyssa Kemp, Harleigh Gilliam, Brylee Gilliam, Nash Kemp, Ella Kemp, Taryn Norman, Nadia Norman, Perry Norman and Bailey Varnes. Viewing for Mr. Kemp will be Thursday, February 11, 2021, at First Christian Church, 507 W. Call St., Starke, FL 32091, from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2021, in First Christian Church with Reverend Tim Wilkerson, Pastor Charles Soper and Pastor Tom Moore officiating.
