Mr. Perry Dean Nicula age 65 of Lawtey passed away Tuesday, March11, 2025, at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville following a brief illness. Hewas born October 31, 1959, in Bridgeport, West Virginia to Octavian"Nick" and Vera (Hyde) Nicula. Perry graduated from Bradford HighSchool in 1977 and then attended Sante Fe Community CollegeElectrical Apprenticeship Program. Perry worked at DuPont as aProcess Control Technician, Super Tech, and E/I Technician andretired 38 years later from Chemours. He was also an ElectricalContractor for the State of Florida and would help his friends andfamily with electrical work around their homes and businesses. Hewas an active member of Madison Street Baptist Church. His hobbieswere riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, taking care his cattle, andgardening. He was known for staying busy working, going out to eat,spending time with his family, and his love for America. He was bestknown for always putting God, family, and friends first. Perry waspreceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his high schoolsweetheart of 45 years and the love of his life, Gayle (Shuford) Nicula,their children Laura Griffis (Dusty), John Nicula (Kaitlyn), his sisterVickie (Jay) Eaves, and his mother-in-law Valaria Shuford, all ofLawtey. He was lovingly called "Papa" by his grandchildren Ally,Colby, Baylor, Brix, Banx, and Beacon. Perry was known to be adevoted husband, loving father, papa, and friend. The family willreceive friends Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2 - 3 p.m. at MadisonStreet Baptist Church.
