Phillip "Dean" Hardwick

Mr. Phillip "Dean" Hardwick, age 91, of Gainesville, formerly of Melrose, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016. He was born in Winchester, Indiana on March 23, 1925 to the late Ralph Allen and Bessie (Werts) Hardwick. Mr. Hardwick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He retired from Alltel as an Engineering Inspector. He was a member of the Keystone Community Church. He enjoyed singing Barbershop Harmony with the Big Orange Chorus in Orange Park. Mr. Hardwick was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 71 years, Janet Louise Hardwick. He is survived by his children; Diane K. Sherley (William) of Gainesville, Deana Ray Hewett (Larry) of Ocala, Tommy Allen Hardwick (Carol) of Union, Ohio; a adopted son, Ronald Ozbun of Gainesville; two brothers-in-law, Richard Bales of Lynn, Indiana, and Vaughn Bowen of Corpus Christi, Texas along with three sisters-in-law, Katherine Mercer of Venice, Fl., Betty Jean Retter of Ft. Myers Fl., and Rose Marie Brown, Lynn, Indiana. Also left behind are 21 grandchildren and spouses, 30 great grandchildren and spouses, 14 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Hardwick will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in the Keystone Community Church, 345 SE Palmetto Ave., Keystone Heights, Fl., 32656 with Pastor Rob Morford officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be at a later date.
