Rachel Bachara, 90, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 13, 2015 with her family by her side, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born July 21, 1924 in Jacksonville, Florida to George and Sadie Korey. Rachel graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. On September 12, 1943 she married Fred Bachara, her husband of 66 years. She was a member of Southpoint Baptist Church and a retired Accounting Administrative Assistant. Her interests included family, canvas painting, crafts, cooking, writing/reading stories and interior decorating. Her caring heart and comforting touch of sincerity and love brought peace, hope and joy to others. She was an amazing woman, a beautiful lady and a blessing to all who knew her. She will always be our beautiful Rae of sunshine and her legacy and our love for her will be in our hearts forever. Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Donna Zaccour and Beverly Bachara; four grandchildren, Tammie Reid (Chris), Tommy Zaccour (Donna), Jennifer Draughon (Chris), and Karen Zaccour; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Draughon, Andrew Reid, Cassidy Reid, Trey Zaccour and Cole Zaccour; a great-great-granddaughter, Skyler Carroll; her sister, Mary Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 19th in the Chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, with Rev. Bret Bellamy officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
