Chief Petty Officer Ralph Thurman Jones 84, of Melrose passed away at the KIVA ALF in Palatka on Sunday, November 27, 2011. Mr. Jones was born on December 18, 1926 in Cochran, Georgia to the late Seab and Eva Jones and had served in the United States Navy. Prior to retiring from Pratt Aviation, Mr. Jones held the rank of ADJC E-7 in the United States Navy. He was also a mechanic for the Blue Angels for 22 enlisted years and another 8 in the Reserves. Mr. Jones has been a longtime resident of the Middleburg and Melrose and was of the Methodist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995 Rose Marie and their son in 2009 Allen Jones. He is survived by his daughter; Annmarie Dombrowski (Jeff) of Jupiter, one brother; Bob Jones of Cochran, GA, and one sister; Mary Jones of Sylvester, GA. He is also survived by one granddaughter Kristina West (Brandon) and one great grandson Kyler West. Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Conner officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Keystone Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions to please be made to the Hospice of the Nature Coast, 6721 Crill Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
