Mr. John Raymond Rowland age 71, of Starke passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Rowland was born on December 29, 1938 in Chester, Georgia and moved to Starke six years ago from Temple Terrace. Raymond served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman, retired from construction with United Petroleum, and was a member of Sampson City Church of God. He was a skilled carpenter who delighted in making furniture and special gifts for his family. He was preceded in death by his father LJ Rowland and his brother CM Rowland. Survivors are: his wife of 53 years Irene Kato Rowland of Starke; son: Johnny Rowland, Jr. (Tracie) of Starke; daughters: Lisa Savage (Todd) of Brandon; Donna Belanger (Tim) of Zephyrhills; his mother Lillie Mae Stickle of Gainesville; sisters: Lucy Adkins (Norris); Ethelene Marchand (Lewis); brother: Simon Rowland (Betty); grandchildren: Andrew; Josh; Christian; Jake; Sarah; Sydney; Trinity and Lauren; great grandchildren: John and Bailey. Viewing will begin at 11 Oclock in the Sampson City Church of God on Thursday, December 23, 2010. Funeral services for Mr. Rowland will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 12 Noon in the Sampson City Church of God with Reverend Gene Bass and Pastor Alton Coleman Officiating.
